Experience in the field of refuse vehicles since more than 100 years

HALLER Umweltsysteme GmbH & Co. are
considered to be one of the oldest and most
competent manufacturers of refuse vehicles .
The foundation of the company dates back to
1871. In the early years, the company was
primarily engaged in the manufacture of
apparatus and receptacles.

 Der erste Seitenlader

Towards the end of the 19th century, the
company produced horse drawn vehicles
for the transport of petroleum products, water,
street washing vehicles, refuse collection
vehicles and soil water trucks. Around 1910,
the first petrol engine powered vehicles
were introduced. At that time conveying or
compaction devices were unknown. The
refuse was merely loaded loosely into the
vehicles by way of simple mechanical loading
devices.

As early as the thirties, the first aircraft
refuellers were designed - in that field HALLER
showed true pioneer spirit. Due to the changed
conditions faced by the users, new constructions
and designs had to be developed,
especially with regard to municipal vehicles.
The end of the Second World War also meant
a new start for HALLER which, however, was
aggravated by the nearly total destruction of
the factory in Stuttgart.

HALLER kept pace and engaged itself intensively
with new designs, in particular in the field of
refuse vehicles. Already towards the forties,
a mechanical compaction design was taken
over from MAN and subsequently underwent
decisive constructional modifications (conveyor
wheel, distribution worm). Up to the end of
the seventies, the production of these vehicles
was undertaken by HALLER.

Due to the changed refuse composition, it
became necessary to find new ways. In the
middle of the sixties, HALLER developed
new systems. Especially the use of standardized
refuse receptacles, i.e. 1.1m³ containers
and the increase in bulk refuse led to the
design of a versatile refuse vehicle.
The type M 10 K had a hydraulically operated
continuous pressure plate loading system
consisting of a guide and a swivel plate. The
continuous updating of this model eventually
resulted in the HALLER type S which is still
being used in many countries.

To take account of the ever changing refuse
composition and the safety regulations, HALLER
presented the type X-series in 1977. Nowadays
they are manufactured in large quantities
in Berlin and other enterprises within the
HALLER Group Companies and by licensees
in Europe and overseas.

Production and assembly is located at the
HALLER factory in Berlin, which is now also
the domicile of Administration and the Research
and Developments.

 LoToS-Seitenlader
The new HALLER Group structure includes
the assembly and sales subsidiaries, agencies
and licence-partners in Great Britain, France,
the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the
P.R. China.

HALLER is one of the few manufacturers
who produce refuse container washing
bodies which fulfill the requirement of fast
and efficient container cleansing for
municipalities and private contractors. The
basic idea was that not just emptied but also
cleaned containers are a contribution to
meaningful environmental protection.

Either in the future HALLER will aim for
innovations in close collaboration with experts
within municipalities and private companies.
Solid design, robust construction and long
life are the hallmarks of all HALLER refuse
collection vehicles. During IFAT 2005
HALLER presented new typy of refuse
vehicle x2i completly suitable for based
on CANopen standard protocol the
CleANopen application. This allows
configuration and data transfer between
the board computer and other electronic
devices as lifter, chassis, weighing and
identification system or other.
